Tres Marietas Islands
Yelapa's top day trip! Located at the northwest entrance of Banderas Bay, this 5-mile long group of three small islands and reefs is a wildlife preserve and seabird nesting site, offering the top water clarity in the Bay. It is very common to find whales (mid December to end of March), dolphins, giant manta rays, turtles and many other varieties of sea life. It's a truly amazing adventure!

Only 10 minutes down the coast is a land out of time. With 100 residents, currently no power, no telephone, no cars or motos, a visit offers a chance to imagine the life here in Mexico pre-tourism. White sand, deserted beaches with clean, clear, warm water. Primitivo's restaurant cooks up a fresh fish, Fidencio or Mateo open coconuts to eat and drink. What more do you need? For the adventurous, the waterfall at nearby Tecomate, population 2, is a rare site to see.

About Luis
Luis Garcia Martinez is a kind Master Boatman and Guide who speaks English, honors safety, and most importantly, is fully licensed in all aquatic activities and is one of the few that have special permissions to access the Tres Marietas Islands.
